Friendship Club
Our June Friendship Club meeting will be held on Thursday, June 19, 2025 at RED DEER LAKE UNITED CHURCH at 1:30 pm.
Why? There are several reasons:
June marks the 100th Anniversary of the formation of our United Church of Canada.
In celebration of that milestone, RDLUC is hosting a fashion show for all members of the five United Churches in our area.
The fashion show, entitled Threads Through Time, will be put on by Memory Lane Fashions, an accomplished group of men and women seniors that performs at the Lougheed House and various seniors' residences. By all reports they put on a lovely affair!
Fashions will be from the 1920s to the 1960s, the early days of the United Church.
Women are encouraged (but not required) to wear hats and gloves, and maybe heirloom jewelry, which should be fun; but if men wear hats, they must (of course!) remove them before entering the sanctuary. Men, be assured that you are most welcome to attend!
There will be commentary during the fashion show with musical interludes.
Refreshments to follow.
So, put aside the cards and games for this month and join us for what should be an engaging afternoon. See the fashions of our grandparents and parents, during the early days of the United Church, and enjoy some music from that era and treats.
The cost is $15 per person, and registration is to be made by clicking on this link: https://form.jotform.com/251337002624042
Profits from this event will go directly to subsidizing youth to attend United Church camps this summer.
